Reflecting, and growing our community
We daily renew our commitment to the next step of this amazing, difficult, intriguing, beautiful journey. And that commitment is made easier by the company we find along the way.
Dearest folk:
Here we are in December already, the month of winter holidays for many traditions, and of reflection on the past year.
To prepare for writing this post, I scanned the Living Conscience posts for 2021. The most common topics and threads, returned to over and over again, include:
Exploring our lived experience as an old world view falls apart, fighting hard on its way out;
Renewing commitment to care for one another, and for our planet;
Understanding our connection to the past, as it informs the present, and aims us into our future;
Learning from the natural world in all its beauty and distress.
Woven in and throughout, I found myself giving voice to my own longing for a life of congruence, one in which my actions align with my values, and I invest my time and energy into what holds the most meaning for me. For the rest of December, I plan to amplify each theme in a series of reflective posts.
My intention for 2022 is to grow our community of travelers in the world of meaning and conscience. To help make this happen, I want to ask you all a favor. If this newsletter is interesting to you, if you find it prompts reflection, sparks insight, or offers good company, please share it with one other person. (Or two, or three.) The simplest way to share is to forward the email. There’s always a link to the subscription options which your connections can use if they are interested.
Our fights to humanize everyone, to uphold democracy, to build safe, inclusive communities, to construct social and economic structures that align with our values - these make up our journey together. We are not looking for “wins” nor are we discouraged by “losses.”
Instead, we daily renew our commitment to the next step of this amazing, difficult, intriguing, beautiful journey. And that commitment is made easier by the company we find along the way.
